Core Description: The Cisco DP04QSDD-ER1 is a high-performance, high-density 400 Gigabit Ethernet (400GbE) optical module, featuring QSFP-DD
(Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Double Density) packaging. It is specifically designed for achieving ultra-long distance (40 kilometers) data transmission over single-mode fiber (SMF).
Key Features and Specifications:
1. Rate and Protocol: Supports 400 Gbps Ethernet rate.
Complies with IEEE 802.3bs/cu 400GBASE-ER4 standard.
Uses 4 100G PAM4 electrical signals (host side) and 4 100G PAM4 optical signals (fiber side).
2. Packaging: QSFP-DD (QSFP56-DD): This is the current mainstream 400G pluggable module packaging standard. It provides backward compatibility (can be inserted into QSFP28 ports, but with limited bandwidth),
and supports higher density (400G per port) and future 800G upgrade path (using the same port type).
3. Transmission Distance: 40 kilometers (40KM): This is its maximum nominal transmission distance, achievable on compliant single-mode fiber (G.652).
The actual reachable distance depends on fiber quality, connector loss, and link budget margin.
ER Classification: ER stands for "Extended Reach", specifically referring to 40KM applications in the 400G standard.
4. Fiber Type and Wavelength: Single-mode fiber (SMF): Must use single-mode fiber (typically G.652.D).
Wavelength: Operates in the 1310nm window. Specifically, it uses 4 different wavelengths (commonly referred to as LAN-WDM or LWDM),
each carrying a 100G PAM4 signal (center wavelengths approximately around 1295.56nm, 1300.05nm, 1304.58nm, 1309.14nm).
5. Connector Interface: Fiber side: Duplex LC interface. Requires two single-mode fibers (one for transmission Tx and one for reception Rx).
6. Power Consumption: Typical power consumption is approximately < 12 watts (specific values may vary slightly depending on operating conditions and temperature). This is a relatively efficient 40KM 400G module.
7. Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM/DOM): Supports standard DDM functions, allowing monitoring of the module's real-time parameters through host devices
(such as Cisco switches), including: temperature (Temperature), supply voltage (Supply Voltage), transmission optical power (Tx Power), reception optical power (Rx Power),
laser bias current (Laser Bias Current), which is helpful for fault diagnosis, performance monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
8. Operating Temperature: Meets the commercial temperature range: **0°C to 70°C (32°F to 158°F).
9. Compatibility: Cisco platform: Designed to be compatible with specific Cisco switch and router platforms that support QSFP-DD 400G interfaces,
such as the Cisco Nexus 9000 series (e.g., N9K-C9336C-FX2, N9K-C9364C, etc.) and Cisco 8000 series routers, etc. * Consult the compatibility matrix or product documentation for the specific device model to confirm support.
Standards: Compliant with IEEE 802.3bs/cu (400GBASE-ER4), QSFP-DD MSA, CMIS (Common Management Interface Specification), etc., to ensure interoperability with other devices that comply with the standards.
Main application scenarios:
Data center interconnection (DCI): Connect data centers in different buildings or within an area to achieve high-speed, low-latency data synchronization, backup, and migration.
Metropolitan area network backbone: Provide high-bandwidth core or aggregation layer connections within the metropolitan area.
High-bandwidth aggregation: Aggregate traffic from multiple lower-rate links (such as 100G) onto the 400G backbone.
Service provider network: Used for core and edge networks that require long-distance 400G connections.
High-performance computing (HPC) interconnection: Connect HPC cluster nodes or storage systems that require extremely high bandwidth.
Cisco's DP04QSDD-ER1 is a 400GBPS QSFP-DD transceiver, designed for high-speed data transmission. It offers extended range connectivity, making it ideal for data centers, enterprise networks, and telecom applications.
Engineers and procurement personnel will appreciate its reliability and performance, suited for demanding network environments.
