The Ciena 6500 series is customized to provide flexibility and openness for more adaptable networks. It fuses three integrated network layers into one platform and supports all the latest technologies from metro to subsea applications, such as WDM, GigE and 100G ports.

Its architecture supports transmission from 10G to 200G per wavelength. The 6500 packet optical platform provides full flexibility and ADAPTS to various requirements. Advanced multi-level security methods ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data in the network.

The programmable 6500 T series configuration is capable of scaling up to terabits per second per slot and has the flexibility to route wavelengths in any of 16 directions.
